School Based Pediatric Therapy
Our Physical and Occupational Therapists work with your child in the comfort of their regular school setting to address skill issues that may interfere with their educational performance. Some of these areas include hand function, oral motor function, visual motor and perceptual skills, sensory awareness/processing, self-care, pre-vocational tasks, physical navigation of the school setting, including physical education class and playground environment. Qualifying students range between the ages 3 to 21 and demonstrate an area of difficulty, which impacts their ability to function in their school environment.
- Manipulation of Classroom Materials
- Self-help Skills
- Social Skills
School based Physical Therapy focuses on a student's ability to navigate the school setting and successfully participate with peers in school-based activities. Our school-based Physical Therapy program allows students with physical disabilities or delays to access the educational resources that are available to them at school with increased ease and independence.
Our Physical Therapy program is designed to help the student to complete curriculum standards and may include but is not limited to:
- Navigation of school environment (playground, stairs, bus steps, hallways, ramps, cafeteria, classrooms, etc.).
- Gross motor skill development to maximize student participation in gym classes & recess.
- Posture and trunk control for tabletop activities.
